Doing businsses over the web made things convinient for us in many ways, however it follows risks. The web is always exposed to the crackers. Recently the biggest retail site in Korea Auction.co.kr was cracked by chinese crackers and lot of private information was sold to different companies. Kevin Mitnick, is the legend in the world of hacking. When he was caught and prisoned, lot of students saw him as a hero. A movie was made about him, and if he was casted, it could have brought success however he was busy running away from the FBI.
Kevin drew into the world of hacking when he was very little and joined a hacker group in LA. He changed his grades in highschool through his hacking skills and only concentrated on hacking.
He quit highschool and began to hack into department of national defence in colorado. He realizes his knowledge wasn't good enough for it. Then he hacked into COSMOS systems and stole MircoPort system manual and ungrades his knowledge. What was amazing was that he hacked with computers that was placed for free use at the stores. It took him just couple of hours to couple of minutes to hack into DEC, Novell, Sun mircosystems and other IT companies.
In 1994, he made a big mistake of hacking into a Simomura Stomu's who was a japanese IT security expert. Stomu realized his compter was hacked and tracked down Kevin Mitnick. In 1995 febuary 15th, the King of Hackers gets arrested. At this time, Kevin had hacked into over 35 IT companies and stole informationn that was worth 30 million dollars. Allthough he didn't do any harm to these companies, hacking is a crime therefore he had to serve in prison for 2years. He is now working as a security consultant and his story teaches us the importance of internet security.
