11. Nintendo Wii in the Fitness market

Nintendo Wii is a game console that was released on 2006 November by Nintendo, Japan.

Nintendo Wii has changed the idea of game console around, targeting no only children but to all age groups. One of the main reason for its change is because Wii is extremely easy to control and includes games such as tennis and bowling which anybody can easily understand and play. Although Wii has not yet been introduced in many countries, its sales hit 3 million units. New York Times have reported Wii, which is just about $300 is entering the fitness market. New York Times is forecasting the Wii fit to be distributed in health channels along with the game channels. An average health machine costs $3,000, and Wii which costs just one tenth will be very attractive to the health industry.

This is how Wii works. The Wii is connected to the television and its sensor detect's player's movements. It provides upto 50 types of exercises listing aerobics, balance training, yoga and so on. One of the biggest reason for Wii's success in America may be due to large over weighting population. Instead of continous training, Wii helps to lose weigh through games and I believe it is the best solution in solving the problem of over weighting.
